ART
It began with a need for connection.
After two years, mostly at home in bed or on the couch or in a rehab office, my life was becoming smaller and more isolated. The Pennysaver showed up in my mailbox at the right moment, and I don’t know why, but I read it cover to cover. I saw an advertisement for clay classes at a local art center. I took a chance, and the women there welcomed me into their community.
My understanding of psychology and trauma help me make sense of my lived experience after a traumatic brain injury (TBI).
I try to translate this experience in my figurative sculptures.
***
I’ve explored themes of loss and grief, invisibility and invalidation, and hope and reconstruction of identity.

I hope people feel seen and understood when they interact with my sculptures.
That is my greatest desire.
